In the spirit of the Dashboard widget trick posted on Digg earlier, I decided to bring a few keyboard shortcuts to the table that many people may not know »

1. You can select the dock using Control F3
2. You can move dock items around when the dock is selected, hold option and use the arrow keys (look out for the nice animation here)
3. To select the Apple menu press Control F2
4. You can select your menu bar items, press Control F8
5. To show the sound panel in system preferences instantly, press option volume (any of the 3 will do, really handy if you need to change sound settings frequently like I do)

Hopefully some of these are new to you, if you’re keeping any little Tiger secrets, let us know!

Just as in #5, holding the option key and any of the brightness keys will also open the Display Preferences.

    @ #5 - excellent! Thanks!

Another note - A couple more system-wide keyboard shortcuts (specifically those for controlling the GUI via the keyboard) are listed in the Keyboard Shortcuts tab in Keyboard & Mouse preferences.
